As a Founder President of WoNiMS, I take great pride in the establishment of this organization in December, 2013, which was created with the purpose of uplifting women in the field of mathematics targeting teachers, students, researchers, scholars and professionals. WoNiMS has remained persistently committed to its mission of promoting women in mathematics through a variety of strategic plans and programs. These include organizing events at national and international levels such as symposiums, seminars, and training sessions, providing research opportunities, and recognizing outstanding contributors with awards and other activities. These events serve to enhance knowledge and foster collaboration among women mathematicians. Despite facing challenges related to limited resources, WoNiMS has always remained committed to achieve its objectives in every possible way. This organization continuously explores innovative strategies and mobilizes available support to promote and encourage women in mathematics. In the context of Nepal, the role of WoNiMS is particularly important, as it is crucial to encourage and support women’s active participation in mathematics. This message of empowerment must be passed on to the younger generation of women to ensure the continuity of their involvement in this important field. Mathematics itself is a fundamental subject with wide-ranging applications across science and technology, engineering, social sciences, commerce, and many other sectors. It is truly my privilege to be a founding president of WoNiMS, and I remain deeply committed to its ongoing growth and success. My best wishes will always be with WoNiMS as it continues to inspire and empower women in mathematics. I am confident that WoNiMS will continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of women in mathematical sciences in Nepal. ![]() Prof. Dr. Shanti Bajracharya Founder President Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences (WoNiMS) |
