Introduction to
WoNiMS

Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences (WoNiMS) was created by a group of women mathematicians and announced at the program “One-day Seminar on Mathematical Sciences in Nepalese Context” organized by CSC in December 28, 2013 at Denish Hall of Padmakanya Campus of Tribhuvan University. It aims at promoting women in mathematics in Nepal and mathematics among undergraduate girl students and women in cooperation with groups, mathematical societies and organizations with similar goals and exchange of ideas in mathematics research and teaching of mathematics.

WoNiMS Outreach Program 4

Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences is organizing a 4th outreach program for Grades 8.9 students at Shree Padma Secondary School, Bhaktapur. It will be a sharing session to discuss kids learning motivation and teachers mathematical expertise. This outreach program aims to restore and improve students mathematical knowledge, develop deeper relationships between students and the mathematics they learn, promote mathematics to girls students, and identify their mathematical talents so that they can be upgraded for higher education in mathematics.

May 12 Initiative , Celebrating Women in Mathematics 2025

On the occasion of the May 12 Initiative, WoNiMS is going to organize a one-and-a-half-day WoNiMS Meet and Greet Program, which is a joyous chance for the mathematical community to encourage an inclusive, friendly, and open work environment for everyone worldwide and to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics. WoNiMS has also been celebrating this day every year since 2019. This year, WoNiMS will commemorate the May 12 Initiative with this program on 23 - 24 May, 2025 (२०८२, जेठ ९ - १०) at Dhulikhel to continue and update its Vision, Mission, Goals, and Perspective on promoting mathematics and enhancing professional growth for women in Nepal. 15th of July (मङ्गलबार, ३१ असार , २०८२), WoNiMS organized its fifth outreach program including Q/A session with School students of grade 8 -10 at Medha Secondary School, Bhaktapur. It was an inspiring day filled with learning, inspiration, and the magic of mathematics. The program was inaugurated by Head Teacher, Mr. Ram Hada. WoNiMS's Life members Dr. Sharmila Shrestha and Dr. Gauri Bhuju delivered their motivational talk on "Math Magic: Your Key to Success”. Grade 9 students Memory Khadka and Panjum Phombo shared their First-hand mathematics learning experience.
